Our remedial massage sessions are designed to ease physical tension and bring balance to a persons whole being. Oncology massage is available for those recently diagnosed, being treated, or living with a history of cancer, and RESTORE scar therapy focuses on reducing any issues related to a surgery or from radiotherapy.

Remedial Massage
Can either be a targeted, therapeutic treatment aimed at relieving muscle pain, tension, and restricted movement or a more relaxed gentle and slow massage to support the nervous system by activating the body's natural relaxation response.

Remedial massage focuses on assessing and addressing the root causes of physical discomfort through specific techniques that support the healing of soft tissue, while relaxation massage uses slower, flowing strokes and calming techniques to help muscles soften and relax. Our massage treatments can help with postural issues, injury recovery, chronic pain, and improve sleep quality, provide mental and physical relaxation, lower stress and anxiety levels, enhance circulation and energy flow and promote emotional calm. Treatments are tailored to suit each individual’s needs.

No matter where your cancer journey is – recently diagnosed, going through treatment or living with a history, oncology massage provides gentle touch for effective support to manage symptoms and improve quality of life. These treatments are given as supportive to your oncology care. To ensure coordinated care, we encourage you to inform your treating doctor, this supports us to provide treatment plans that are adapted to suit each individual.  This evidence-based therapy is safe and effective, and has been found to alleviate some side effects of cancer such as nausea 51%, fatigue 42%, anxiety 59%, depression 48% and pain 47%. Other symptoms such as memory problems, shortness of breath, disturbed sleep and dry mouth also improved by 48%.

RESTORE Scar Therapy 
A specialised scar therapy for people who have had oncology surgery. RESTORE scar therapy treatment can help care for your scar and the underlying tissue. We can focus on reducing any issues related to a surgery or from radiotherapy such as:
  • Post-surgery pain
  • Limited movement or tightness
  • Pulling or puckering
  • Fibrous scar tissue or scar adhesions.

Your appointment will include a special scar massage – at the right pace and pressure to suit you – plus useful advice for caring for your scar at home, and treatment to support your general wellbeing.

An appointment in the first 6 months after a surgery is very helpful (even if you are not experiencing any unwanted complications) but it's never too late to benefit from scar treatment. This treatment can be provided as RESTORE scar therapy alone or as part of your oncology massage. Private health fund rebates available.

  • Myhealth Westmead, an integrative medical clinic in partnership with Western Sydney Integrative Health (WSIH) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. WSIH Care provides subsidised consultations for oncology massage for eligible cancer patients and private health rebates available.
